Last weekend three times been there on out. And only one good photo. Yes, that happens me too. It is part of life as a landscape photographer.

This photo was taken on the dunes of Walcheren. These lighthouses stand near Koudekerke, better known as Dishoek. A few kilometers away from Vlissingen. Prevails now some rest but when summer comes, this rest over.

After a turbulent crossing because it stormed, to Newcastle, we are using the Coastal Route to Bamburgh. Along the way we stopped at several locations to see if the appropriate location to shoot some landscapes this long weekend. So we stopped at Dunstanburgh Castle. A beautiful location, I definitely wanted to go back this weekend.

After arriving at our hotel in Bamburgh, we explore the countryside. We also visited (of course) this afternoon the castle. An absolute must! The castle is built on a beautiful location on a rock, right on the beach. Beyond the castle is on the beach in a rocky coastline. From here you have a magnificent view of the castle and the fascinating coastline of Northumberland.

The next morning I go photography. Despite the weather predictions. They were the same as the day before, I decided to get up early. The alarm went therefore already 5:00 in the morning. Upon arrival at the beach, my heart beat faster. The dark clouds sky was slowly opening up. A fantastic sight. That kind of moments I really enjoyed my job!

In the afternoon we decided to drive to explore the area! After the exploring we drive to the same point at Bamburgh going to sit out and blow away in the wind . And just before the sky pulled closed I could shoot some beautiful pictures of the castle. The plan for the next new day, is to shoot landscape photos at Dunstanburgh castle. A real top location for a landscape photographer!

The next morning, alarm went off at 4:00 am (!), On to Dunstanburg! Only it had snowed, and not so little. I decided to take a chance … Halfway through the ride, I decided to go back. It was irresponsible! It was not a gentle falling snow. No, it had previously snowstorms. Within a few hours there was more than 5 cm. For that reason I decided to go back to Bamburgh. With clammy hands I came back in Bamburgh. The sky cleared temporarily briefly. In the distance, above the sea, showed that a portion of new snow arrives. I still decided to use the short cleared sky. Bamburgh castle with snow…

The trip there was almost over. Back to home. Only the tripp was even more difficult. The road to Newcastle, the A1, was well prepared and clean of snow. Only the road to A1 wasn’t. It had very nearly we had longer to stay. There were several accidents at the road. But our luck was on our side! We are grateful for. We had a safe crossing. Good bye UK, we will definitely return, one day!

Also I give a workshop landscape photography last Saturday at CameraNu.nl. It was a pleasant crowd because it was a weekend of the Toppers at CameraNu.nl. Unfortunately the weather was not quite well, but it was a successful afternoon!

The Karwendel in Mittenwald gebergt is ideal for hiking. And that is very noticeable. Many hikers enjoy the surroundings. This environment is in fact excellent to go on holiday all seasons.

Photographic week was reasonable. The changeable weather meant that not every day could be photographed.But I had no reason to complain, because the news reached us that in the Netherlands an autumn storm past, I priced myself happy with the moments that I’ve got here at Beieren.

Especially the area around the Geroldsee is breathtakingly beautiful. Here reigns total rest, especially on an early morning before sunrise. I was happy to bring my flashlight with me, my eyes adjust fortunately rapidly at the darkness, but to build my camera with the stuff, was without a flashlight a very difficult task.

Waterfall Wallgau is a gem. All it is practically beside a main road, yet to get there is very hard. To find a good position was also a diffelcult task.

Another highly recommended is the Partnachklamm. You should not be here for the rest, because many tourists find this gap. But this gap is really breathtakingly beautiful … and wet! So if you’re going to take pictures there, get your rain cover with you!

The week was very successful when I’ve got a successful panorama photograph of the Geroldsee. This panoramic picture, consisting of 36 photos with a resolution of 22988 x 6456 px, makes me very proud. The soft tones of the evening light, just after sunset make me enjoy God’s wonderful creation! It was a successful time in Krün. Hope to see you again, because it definitely worth it.

Walcheren, Zeeland, every time it feels like coming home. The dunes, the beach and the North Sea. And there is always something to experience! This evening was the nature of the guilty;-)

Behind us came a stormy sky, with thunder, opened and it rained styles. Above us flew stray heavy clouds, out of the shower on, over and was far ahead of us in the course of the evening almost tight blue.

Also at the photo at the top. Two Hard ND Grad filters to the air by pressing (LEE 0.6 and 0.9), and also a regular ND 0.6 to a slightly slower shutter speed to create. Every advantage, through the filters, also has a downside. High humidity creates something in the top corners noise. The following format will not notice … But in the original did. These are choices you make at that time.

On the way back we enjoyed the lightning (thunder) in the night. That remains a majestic sight. It makes a person small and insignificant in this wonderful creation.

Normal landscape photography have no secrets for me anymore. I know the technique…  For sharpness and stay focused, you try sometimes other things. There are enough ranges in landscape photography to learn more and keep you sharp and focussed! And taken panorama shots is one off the other things I want to do.

The Gigapan Pro is a robot head where I put my camera on. With a remote cable there is communication between the head and the camera. The difficult is to have a correct light balance and composition with a panorama shot. The Gigapan can only make the rotation and position for the camera, nothing more. The settings on your camera should do yourself. This may give a lot of thinking. But when you see the results, I’m feeling very well…

The first days we had clear blue skies. This is not the kind of weather where I hoped for. There’s only one thing. Adjusting to the weather. Fortunately, the possibilities there too for at the Lizard. We stay there at Housel Bay (Hotel tip!). It’s a great and wonderful area with a lot coast footpaths. I think we have never walked so much as in Cornwall.

Cornwall is also ideal for landscape photography. So we traveled from the Lizard to St. Michael’s Mount. Just take there some nice slow shutter speed landscape photos from the Mount with upcoming ty.

I’ve tried several times to take some nice photo shots on Land’s End. Unfortunately there was bad weather to photography. That is the only location on my list what failed on my trip at Cornwall. Maybe someday I returned to this wonderful and famous location.

Later at The Lizard we’ve got more clouds and some thunder (my first thundershot!), but is was a beautiful time there.

After a few nights we traveled to Tintagel. The domain of King Arthur. We stay there several days. Of course we visited Tintagel castle and saw Merlin’s Cave.

This was also for me the possibility to photography Trebarwith strand, nearby Tintagel. But in the evening there I was a little disappointing. The sky was clear again. Too clean, too blue. All the Britisch people are happy with the nice weather. But not me!!! But when the sunset begins there came the clouds… (See photo at the top of this article) My day was good again!

One another item on my list is: Bedruthans Steps. So we drive on a beautiful evening to Bedruthan Steps, Carnewas. It was a gorgeous evening, with clouds and flowers. Spring was just like in the Netherlands, started late. This gives magnificent scenes. Rocky coasts, flowers on the cliffs and a wide ocean for you.

During the workshop we first walked on the Donk. Unfortunately it was not completely dry, despite all this we have watch beautiful Dutch countryside with typical Dutch skies. After the walk we needs some coffee. After the coffee it was time for some information about the area. Harm Blom, from Staatsbosbeheer,  told all about the history from the Donk. And he have some practical tips on locations and seasons for the Donk to photograph.

In the evening we drove to Scheveningen. We (Raoul Baart and I) wanted some photos from de harbour of Scheveningen. The wind was strong, to our direction. This results that the clouds look like moved to our lenses. It was a great sunset and I must say thanks to Raoul Baart, to take me with him. The next day I was very tired, but very satisfied…
