Photo licensing & image use
Photography began for me as a way to slow down. I focus on looking, feeling, and capturing moments that might otherwise pass by unnoticed. That is exactly why I like to share these images — with people who want to communicate, support, or strengthen a story through visual work.
Would you like to use a photograph by Sander Poppe for a website, publication, presentation, or another project? That is certainly possible. However, I do not offer my images as free material. They are part of my work and fall under copyright. For that reason, I arrange image use through a license: a clear, personal agreement that defines how you may use a photograph.
No fixed price lists and no sales talk. Instead, I make clear agreements tailored to your specific use, so that expectations remain transparent from the start.
What do I mean by photo licensing?
A photo license simply gives you permission to use a photograph within agreed boundaries. This approach creates clarity, for example about:
- where the image will appear (online, print, presentation)
- how it will be used (editorial, informational, communicative)
- how long it will be used
- in which context (for example, commercial or public)
In this way, both sides understand what to expect, and you can use an image with care and respect, without misunderstandings later on.
How are my photographs used?
People use images from my imagebank in many different ways, including:
- websites and blogs
- magazines and books
- presentations and publications
- communication by organizations or institutions
- visual support for stories about landscape, nature, and space
That is why I always encourage you to get in touch if your intended use falls just outside these examples, so that we can explore the possibilities together.
How does a request work?
You can contact me in two simple ways:
- Via the imagebank – where you can send a message directly with each photograph
- Via the contact page – where you can include the link(s) to the image(s) and a short explanation of the intended use
After that, I review your request and let you know whether it fits and which type of license makes the most sense. You then receive a clear confirmation.
What helps to get clarity quickly?
In most cases, a few short details already help, for example:
- which image(s) you are interested in
- where and how the image will be used
- the expected duration of use
- a possible deadline
- special wishes (cropping, editing, exclusivity)
Generally, the simpler the intended use, the simpler the agreement.
Credit & image editing

Image edits are often no problem in consultation, as long as the character and content of the photograph remain intact. If in doubt, I prefer to discuss this in advance.
Exclusivity
Sometimes a client prefers exclusive use, for example within a specific sector or for a defined period. I can offer this as well, provided that we clearly define and agree on the terms. This approach keeps my imagebank fair and manageable for everyone.
One more thing
All photographs on this website and in my imagebank fall under copyright. Using an image without permission — even with good intentions — can lead to misunderstandings. By discussing things in advance, we can easily avoid that.
