Oosterbeek floodplains: a peaceful and inspiring morning

Sometimes, it’s not the dramatic skies that leave the deepest impression. Often, it’s the quiet moments in between. On a calm and crisp morning, I stood on a narrow gravel path in the Oosterbeek floodplains , in the municipality of Renkum. It was still early. The world around me seemed to breathe in soft silence. The sky changed gently rather than dramatically. For me, the moment was special and unforgettable.

At the time, I stayed for several weeks at PDC De Herberg to catch my breath and recharge. Here, close to the Oosterbeek floodplains, I rediscovered my love for photography. I had not completely put my camera away during difficult times. Yet in this peaceful environment, I remembered what photography truly gives me — and sometimes what it takes. It offered me images, peace, focus, and a renewed appreciation for the present. Since then, I go out early more often, always looking for that perfect light.

That morning, I stood behind my tripod, lost in thought. I chose the composition with care. Then I waited patiently for the moment when the light would fall perfectly over the floodplains. The sunrise didn’t explode with fiery colors. Still, for me, it was a personal wow moment . Each click of the shutter confirmed that I was back doing what I love. That makes every image I capture in the Oosterbeek floodplains truly meaningful.
