Windmills are far more than historic structures; they are silent witnesses to craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and a deep connection to the land. In my photography of windmills , I seek moments when these icons tell their story. Sometimes it is at sunrise, when soft light touches the sails. Sometimes during a storm, when the raw power of nature surrounds them.

Each windmill has a distinct character. Some stand along lakes and rivers, others in the middle of open polder landscapes. They are intertwined with our nation’s history, and embody the unmistakable spirit of the Netherlands.
